Maoist Center decides to endorse MCC with ‘interpretative declaration’



KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center parliamentary party meeting held Sunday has decided to ratify the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement with an 11-point interpretative declaration.

A meeting of the Maoist Center parliamentary party took place at the parliament building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, after the House of Representatives (HoR) was postponed for an hour.

Earlier, the Maoist Center distributed copies of “interpretive declaration” to parliamentarians along with a supplementary report.

Maoist Center Chief Whip Dev Gurung has expressed apprehension in the supplementary report along with the “interpretive declaration”.

The ruling oalition meeting Sunday morning agreed to ratify MCC from parliament with “interpretative declaration”, forwarded by Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Earlier, Maoist Center’s Central Office Secretariat meeting held on Sunday morning at party Chairman ‘Prachanda’s Khumaltar-based residence decided to ratify the MCC Compact with further clarification of the ambiguous clauses and conditions included in the compact.
