MEC Vice Chairman attacked



KATHMANDU: An unidentified group has perpetrated an attack on Vice Chairman of Medical Education Commission (MEC) Prof Dr. Shrikrishna Giri on Thursday.

Unidentified people pelted stones at Dr. Giri’s vehicle at 11 am today in Kadaghari, Kathmandu, while he was on his way to the office from residence. The stones shattered the rear windscreen of Dr. Giri’s car.

Issuing a statement later in the day, the MEC condemned the attack and demanded action against the perpetrators.

“The commission strongly condemns such heinous incidents while dispensing services impartially and honesty in line with the National Medical Education Act. We urge the government to identify persons involved in the attack and take action against them,” read the MEC statement, which has been upload in the commission’s website.
