Nepal imports cell phones worth Rs 6 billion in two months

KATHMANDU: In the last two months, mobile phone sets worth more than Rs 6 billion have entered Nepal from various countries.

According to the Department of Customs, in the first two months (Shrawan and Bhadra) of the current fiscal year 2079/80, the mobile phone sets  worth more than six billion rupees were imported to Nepal.

The Customs data reveal that mobile 438,985 mobile sets worth Rs 6.18 billion have entered Nepal.

Most of the mobile phones in Nepal come from China.

In the last two months, mobile sets worth more than 4.67 billion rupees have entered Nepal from China alone.

In the corresponding period of last financial year, Nepal had imported 1,498,765 mobile sets worth 10.36 billion rupees from different countries.
