Responsibility of all to protect youths from drugs: Home Minister Khand



KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand has said that it is the responsibility of all to save the youths from narcotic drugs.

He said this while addressing a function organized on Sunday marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The Home Minister asserted that the government and the society have the equal responsibility to save the youths from the scourge of drug abuse. The government is committed to protecting the secured future of the youths and the lives of the citizens, he added.

Stating that the substance abuse has dealt a serious impact on society and this impact was largely on the youths, he called on every citizen to be aware of this.

The Home Minister underscored the need of implementing awareness-raising programs against drug abuse and including this in the school syllabus. He also pointed out the need of initiating a special campaign to rehabilitate the youths who are in the bad habit of drug abuse.

Home Minister Khand reiterated that the government is working seriously to prevent and stop drug abuse and trafficking.

Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and Inspector General of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh called on all the citizens to be aware towards making a drugs-free family, society and nation.

Various organizations working in the field of prevention and control of drug trafficking and drug abuse were honored on the occasion.

An awareness rally was also organized prior to this program.
