8 municipalities of Lamjung have only men as mayors



LAMJUNG: All men have been elected to major posts in the eight local bodies in Lamjung.

This includes the position of mayor in four municipalities and four positions of chair of rural municipalities.

In the local level election held on May 13, National Mongol Organization had nominated Kulu Kumari Gurung for the post of Mayor in Besisahar municipality.

The participation of women has become nil after the major parties including CPN-UML, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center) did not field women candidates for the major posts.

In the first local level election, one woman was elected as mayor municipality and four deputy mayors in the district.
