Independent KMC mayoral candidate Balen closer to victory

Balen: 56, 890, Sirjana: 35,924, Sthapit: 35,406



KATHMANDU: Independent mayoral candidate Balendra Shah is set to become the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

With less than 18,000 votes remaining to be counted, Balen is ahead of Sirjana Singh by more than 21,000 votes. He has received 56,890 votes.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Sirjana Singh is in second place with 35,924 votes.

CPN-UML candidate Keshav Sthapit is trailing behind with 35,406 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Sunita Dangol has got 63,781 votes for the post of deputy mayor. Her closest rival Rameshwar Shrestha of CPN (Unified Socialist) polled only 21,962 votes.
