Nomination for Dalit women member nil in seven wards of Humla

KATHMANDU: The nomination of Dalit women members in seven wards of two rural municipalities in Humla district for the May 13 local election is nil.

According to the Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Humla, Dalit women members have not been fielded in wards 1 to 6 of Namkha Rural Municipality and ward 5 of Chankheli Rural Municipality.

There are a total of 44 wards in all seven rural municipalities of Humla district.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Humla, said as Dailt communities do not reside in those seven wards of two rural municipalities, not a single nomination for Dalit women members was recorded.

Humla Chief Electoral Officer Jagat Bahadur Poudel said nomination for Dalit women members have been received in other rural municipalities of Humla.

Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday, Poudel said, “There are 44 wards in Humla. Of them, Dalit women members have not been nominated in seven wards.”
