Senior citizen’s experience should be utilized



GANDAKI: Finance Minister of Gandaki province Ramji Prasad Baral (Jeevan) has stressed on the need to follow the experience of senior citizens.

He expressed the belief that the experience of the elders would be a guide to make the society cultured and well-organized. Talking about the invaluable contribution of the elders in building a civilized society, Minister Baral said that the senior citizens who are the jewels of the state should be highly respected and protected at home with love and affection.

He was speaking at a program was organized by Pokhara Old Age Home with the support of the Ministry of Social Development here Friday. On the occasion, an experience sharing and interaction was held between 37 higher school students and 15 senior citizens taking shelter in the home.

Likewise, Dr. Nil Sharma gave training on health care and routine of senior citizens, Kusum Keshav Parajuli, president of the old age home, on how senior citizens can be linked to income generation while advisor of the World Hindu Federation Shalikram Sapkota gave a lecture on how youths can play a role in preserving our traditions and culture.

In the program chaired by School Management Committee Chairman Teknath Gautam, Ministry of Social Development officer Govinda Sapkota, Instructor Dr Anil Thapa, School Principal Minraj Adhikari and others stressed on the important role of the state in transferring the knowledge of the senior citizens to the new generation.
