UML’s PR vote crosses one million



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML is leading the vote count with more than 1,017,656 votes under Proportional Representation (PR) so far.

The Nepali Congress is following with 970,877 votes, according to the latest update by the Election Commission.

The Maoist Center is placed in the third position with 446,594 votes followed by Rastriya Swatantra Party with 484,886 votes.

Similarly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has garnered 260,120 votes, and the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal garnered 129,157 votes.

Likewise, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has secured 71,667 votes, and the Nagarik Unmukti Party has got 70,494 votes.

According to EC’s preliminary estimate, voter turnout was 61 percent.

Under the PR, the provision has it that a party is required to get at least three percent of the total number of votes cast to get seats meaning a single party in these elections should get over 320,000 votes to secure seats.
