KATHMANDU: Doctors have urged the government to immediately control dengue outbreak across the country.

The mosquito-borne viral disease has been taking its toll with health facilities being flooded with dengue patients, they said.

Mosquito fogging must take place to contain the disease, suggested Dr Sundar Mani Dixit, adding that the government, respective offices and local levels should be serious about the outbreak.

Similarly, infectious disease specialist Dr Sher Bahadur Pun viewed that the Ministry of Health should have launched the ‘search and destroy campaign’ two months earlier so as to avert dengue outbreak.

“The situation created by dengue outbreak may create another big problem if it is not contained on time,” he said.

Awareness and government’s prompt response to the outbreak should be increased, suggested infectious disease specialist Dr Garib Das Thakur.
