 NC wins mayor and JSP deputy mayor in Rautahat’s Gadhimai municipality



RAUTAHAT: Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have won for the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Rautahat’s Gadhimai municipality respectively.

According to the final results released on Wednesday morning, NC’s Shyam Prasad Yadav has won the mayoral post with 8,631 votes.

His nearest rival, Sheikh Abul Kalam Azad of JSP, polled 8,073 votes. Similarly, JSP’s Samita Yadav has been elected as deputy mayor with 6,671 votes.

Her nearest rival Nagendra Singh of CPN (Unified Socialist Party) polled 5,902 votes. In wards 2, 4, and 6 of the nine-ward municipality, the NC has won the ward chairmanship.

In wards 3, 7, and 8, JSP has won ward chairmen.

CPN (Maoist Center) has won in ward 9, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) in ward 5 and CPN (Unified Socialist) in ward 1.
