Bamdev Gautam meets Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda amid political uncertainty



KATHMANDU: Former Vice-Chairman of CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam has met CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at a time the Maoist Center Chair is in a political dilemma whether to abide by principles and ensure credibility or to listen to the orthodox cadres urging the party to stand against the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

According to sources, Maoist Center Chair Prachanda and leader Gautam discussed the latest political developments that came to manifestation after the tabling of the MCC.

Leader Gautam has placed himself with Maoist Center leaders speaking against the MCC.

The two leaders met at Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar.

Leader Gautam, who left the UML, is not affiliated with any party now. He is preparing to form a new party.

Earlier, Prachanda had met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Prachanda, who holds the position that the MCC should be amended and passed, has tried to be somewhat flexible after the Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba intensified talks with UML Chairman KP Oli.
