EC urges government to fix local election date at the earliest

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the government to fix the date of local elections as soon as possible.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday,  EC requested the government to announce the election date at the earliest.

Mentioning that the Commission needs at least 120 days for election management, EC urged the government to think on the either of the dates proposed before.

Earlier, EC had suggested the government to conduct the local level election on April 29.

EC had proposed to conduct the election on a single day then.

It had even suggested May 5 as the alternative day for local level election if it has to be held in two rounds.
