KATHMANDU: CPN-UML is leading the vote count with a total of 452,730 votes under Proportional Representation (PR) so far.
The Nepali Congress is following with 416,184 votes, according to latest update by the Election Commission.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party is placed in third position with 234,747 votes followed by the CPN (Maoist Center) with 192,742 votes.
Similarly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has got 123,909 votes, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal 57,910, the Nepal Workers Peasants Party 42,457 and the Janamat Party 28,344.
Likewise, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has secured 28,376 votes, the Nagarik Unmukti Party 25,616, and others 98,519.
According to EC’s preliminary estimate, voter turnout was 61 percent.
Under the PR, the provision has it that a party is required to get at least three percent of the total number of votes cast to get seats meaning a single party in these elections should get over 320,000 votes to secure seats.
