Shambhunath municipality to build 24 houses for poor and underprivileged



SAPTARI: The Shambhunath municipality has decided to build a total of 24 houses for the families of poor Dalits, people with disabilities and the underprivileged.

Mayor of the municipality Jitendra Prasad Gupta laid the foundation for the construction of the houses in Kankapatti, Ward No. 2 of the municipality on Friday.

On the occasion, Mayor Gupta said that no one should suffer because of lack of housing. Sharing that the house construction has been initiated under the Tarai Madhes Prosperity Program and the budget allocated by Ward No. 2, he said houses for remaining target families will be carried out with funds from the municipality.

Mentioning that an initiative is being taken with the Ministry of Urban Development for proving corrugated roofs to 500 households in the municipality, Mayor Gupta expressed his commitment not to let any people suffer because of the problem of housing.

Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Rajkumar Das, said that the municipality is working with various organizations in raising the standard of living of the people.
