COVID-19 vaccine at home for PWDs

TANAHU: The Myagde Rural Municipality has started vaccinating people with disabilities (PWDs) against COVID-19 at their homes itself.

The rural municipality had organized mobile vaccination camps in various locations and extended that to a door-to-door service for the PWDs.

Purna Bahadur Saru, a resident of ward no 3 in the Rural Municipality was happy to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at his home on Friday.

He said that finally the physically challenged people like us got to feel the presence of the local government.

On the fourth day of the mobile camp organized by the rural municipality, the residents of rural municipality were happy when health workers reached the homes of the physically challenged and started providing vaccination against COVID-19 as well as other health services.

Narayan Bahadur Hunching,29, who is bed ridden due to a spinal injury, was happy to get the COVID-19 vaccine and emphasized that the government should pay special attention to the PWDs more than ordinary people.

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Narayan Prasad Adhikari, shared that since the people with disabilities could not come to the mobile camp, services were provided in their homes.

He said that the people have appreciated the door-to-door integrated mobile service.

Head of Health Unit of the rural municipality Dinesh Pandit said that when the camp was completed at seven places by the fourth day, 267 adults received the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19, 17 received the first dose, 18 received the second dose and 232 received the third (booster) dose.

The mobile camp has been completed at seven places including Manhau, Gunadi and Bakhre of Ward No. 1, Gunjara, Jamune, Rishithum and Pipaldihi of Ward No. 2.

The rural municipality office said that the camp will run until October 17.
