UML presents 3 point-difference in impeachment recommendation committee

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML has held a three point-difference in the impeachment recommendation committee of the House of Representatives.

According to sources, UML leader and lawmaker Bishnu Paudel presented UML’s 3 points of difference in the recommendation committee meeting on Wednesday.

UML has demanded clarification from the Speaker on the issue of delay in sending the impeachment motion registered in the parliament secretariat to the recommendation committee formed to investigate the issue.

As per the provisions of the House of Representatives, the committee should be given 3 months to investigate the impeachment. However, according to UML lawmakers, the time to be given to the investigation of the allegations against the suspended Chief Justice has been curtailed due to the negligence of the Speaker.

UML has also demanded to ensure that the report of the committee is submitted to the Parliament and submitted for decision. UML lawmaker Bishnu Paudel, Lalbabu Pandit, Shivaamaya Tumbahangfe and Krishna Bhakta Pokharel have submitted their different opinions to a senior member of the committee Ram Bahadur Bista.
