Ruling coalition leaders holding meeting on allocation of electoral seats



KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the five-party ruling coalition are meeting today as well to discuss the allocation of electoral seats among the parties for the November 20 elections.

A meeting of the five-party coalition held on Tuesday ended conclusively as the ruling partners remained adamant about their respective stances.

The leaders are meeting on Wednesday afternoon as the seat allocation task force for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections could not finalize the distribution of seats.

A meeting of the top leaders of the five-party alliance will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also a member of the task force, informed that there is a possibility of reaching a conclusion regarding seat distribution in the meeting.

The task force formed under the chairmanship of Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula for allocating seats has discussed the criteria but has not been able to prepare a concrete proposal.

The ruling coalition partners are in talks with each other ever since the announcement of the date of Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly slated for November 20.
