KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Dr Dila Sangraula Panta has sought a white paper on COVID-19.
Speaking in a special hour in a meeting of the House of Representatives today (Sunday), she urged the government to issue a white paper on the efforts made by Nepal to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, achievements made to that connection and on measures to face up the upcoming challenge.
Panta also called for expediting the vaccination campaign to save the citizens from the coronavirus infection and drew the government’s attention that the amount of the health insurance has not been provided to the citizens.
She said various hospitals have suspended the insurance program through a notice citing the government has failed to provide them the amount in the context of 1.7 million people registering for the insurance.
Bhim Bahadur Rawal slammed the government saying it failed to heed to a ruling made by the Speaker in connection to implementation of the government’s decision a month back not to be a part of the State Partnership Program (SPP).
He, through the House, called attention of the government to immediately send letter to the US government that Nepal will not be a part of the SPP. Rawal urged the government to pay attention to protecting the interests of the country and the people by taking initiatives for removing the unequal provisions in the treaty related to Gurkha recruitment.
Hit Bahadur Tamang drew attention to move forward the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel way and to prepare a sound foundation for the country’s economic prosperity by strengthening economic, social and cultural ties with China.
He urged the government to forthwith expedite the construction of the Balaju-Ranipauwa-Pipaltar Pasang Lhamu highway as it is in a state of neglect at present.
Ram Babu Yadav criticized the government for failing to address the farmers’ problems including the shortage of fertilizers.
Hridayesh Tripathi expressed concern saying the economy was in a wobbly condition and urged the government to pay attention to measures to boosting the GDP as it is seen that the production would likely decrease due to fertilizer shortage.
Attahar Kamal Musalman suggested caution while making statements about the Citizenship Bill, saying the bill was in the national interest.
Dil Kumari, referring to the killing in Rautahat of a woman 27 days after her marriage allegedly over dowry, demanded a fair investigation and bringing the truth and facts on this case out. She called for taking stern action against the culprits responsible for the murder of the woman.
Ganga Chaudhary said that the government was not paying attention to the issue of border security.
