Samajwadi Morcha candidates will contest in 165 constituencies in upcoming elections: Barshaman Pun

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center leader Barshaman Pun has said that he will be a candidate for Samajwadi Morcha in the parliamentary elections to be held in November.

Speaking to reporters in Baneshwar on Sunday afternoon, Maoist Center leader Pun said that leftist parties have reached an agreement to contest the polls under the new alliance.

“Maoist Center, CPN United Socialist Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Baburam Bhattarai and Bamdev Gautam have agreed to form a Samajbadi Morcha,” Pun said. We are ready to contest in 165 constituencies. Depending on the need, there may be coordination with Nepali Congress (NC) in some places.

He said that even if the electoral alliance is formed now, there is no possibility of party unity before the elections.

Pun claimed that after the formation of Samajwadi Kendra, there will be two main political forces in the country.

Now the traditional power is led by NC and the progressive front is led by Samajwadi Morcha ,” said Pun, “where CPN-UML will go, it is up to it (UML) to decide.”

He said that his focus is on the formation of a socialist front rather than strengthening the alliance with NC.
