Three crushed to death as falling roadside tree hits vehicles



KATHMANDU: Three people have died when a roadside tree fell and crushed their vehicle at around noon in Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, on Sunday.

More than a dozen were injured in the incident that involved a passenger mini-bus and a scooter.

Two bus passengers and one pillion rider died when the tree fell on them.

Chief of Traffic Police Office, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, Raju Karki confirmed three people died and more than a dozen were injured in the incident.

According to him, the identity of the dead and injured is yet to be known.

Karki said that the minibus number Ba2Kh 3584 and scooter number Ba61P 3978 en route Bhaktapur from Kathmandu were crushed by a falling tree. He  added there were a total of two dozen passengers in the vehicle.

He said that the driver and co-driver of the vehicle were unharmed as the rear part of the vehicle was crushed.

More details are awaited, he added.
