Prachanda expresses desire to be Prime Minister again

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his desire to be the Prime Minister once again.

Addressing a swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the Nepal Mountaineers Association (NMA) in Kathmandu on Friday, the former Prime Minister said he would perform better if he were to be the executive head of the country again.

Assessing his tenures as PM in the past and terming his second tenure as more successful compared to the first one, he said if a third chance were to arise, he would do even better.

Nepal’s eastern transits with India sealed for Gorkhaland election

Nepal’s eastern transits with West Bengal state of India have been sealed off for 72 hours beginning Friday morning targeting the coming Gorkhaland Territorial Administration election there.

Following correspondences by the Indian side, the transits with India in Pashupatinagar in Ilam district and Kakadvitta and Bhadrapur in Jhapa have been closed for this cause, said Chief District Officer, Jhapa, Chhabi Lal Rijal.

The transits that were sealed at 6 am today will be open at 6 am on coming Monday, he said.

KMC presents budget of Rs 25.41 billion for fiscal 2022/023

 The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has presented a budget of Rs 25.41 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2022/023.

Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget in today’s municipal assembly.

The new budget is seven billion more compared to the current fiscal year. The KMC had unveiled a budget of Rs 18.95 billion for the current fiscal year.

A highest amount of budget (Rs 11.8 billion) has been allocated for the infrastructure development for coming fiscal year. A total of Rs 4.68 billion has been proposed for office expenditure, which is 20 per cent of the total budget of the KMC.

NBSM provides Nepal Standards certification to 50 products

The Nepal Bureau of Standards & Metrology (NBSM) has provided the Nepal Standards Certification Marks to various 50 products.

The industries that have received the Marks in the current fiscal year, 2078/79 range from that of cement, TMT rod, paints, HDPE pipe, CPVC pipe, UPVC pipe and Jasmine hygiene products.

Lately, entrepreneurs have increased their faith in the Nepal Standards Certification Marks, said NBSM Director General Dina Nath Mishra.

“The number of companies that have applied for the certification has been increasing these years.”

HIB urges for regular health treatment of health insurance policy owners

The Health Insurance Board (HIB) has urged the health institutions to provide regular medical treatment to the health policy owners.

HIB Executive Director Dr Damodar Basaula, through a press release on Thursday, urged the health institutions to provide regular medical care to the health insurance policy owners as the process is underway for payment of medical treatment charges.

“The Board is vigorously working for the prompt payment of claims that have been examined. The payment would be made regular by preparing a work schedule in the coming days. Therefore, the Board requests all the service-providing health institutions to deliver the medical treatment service to the health insurance policy owners in a regular basis,” the press release stated.

Wizz Air to launch services in Bhairahawa Int’l Airport from coming September

Hungary Airlines’ Wizz Air is gearing up to spread its wings in the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa from the coming September.

The second international airport in the country officially came into operation on May 16, marking the Buddha Purnima. Currently, Jazeera Airways has been operating its flight at the Airport.

First kidney transplantation done in Pokhara

The Paschimanchal Regional Hospital under the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) has conducted kidney transplantation for the first time.

The kidney transplantation was conducted on a 53-year-old woman from Annapurna Rural Municipality in the district on Thursday.

She was donated the organ by her husband. It took four hours for a team of specialist doctors to transplant the kidney.

The Hospital has however maintained the names of the organ donor and recipient anonymous.
