16 candidates in mayoral fray in Kathmandu Metropolis on first day

Sixteen candidates have filed nominations for the post of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the local level election that is going to be held on May 13.

Likewise, 17 candidates filed nominations for the post of Deputy Mayor of the metropolis.

Similarly, 13 ward chairpersons and seven ward members have also registered their candidacies, said Electoral Officer Prem Kumar Shrestha.

NC unveils manifesto for local level election

Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has launched its election manifesto for the May 13 local election.

Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice Presidents Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung and General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma jointly made public the election manifesto named ‘Sankalpa’ amid a function at the party central office at Sanepa, Lalitpur today.

Candidacy registration for May 13 local election begins

As per the local level election schedule, the process of filing candidature begins today for the May 13 election.

Political parties will start registering their candidacies at the local level today.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed today and tomorrow for filing the nomination.

President Bhandari calls for building self-reliant economy

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed the need for all Nepalis to focus on building a self-reliant economy.

President Bhandari said so at a program organized at the Office of President- Sheetal Niwas – while honoring former administrator Suryanath Upadhyay with ‘Hem Bahadur Malla Honour’ on Sunday.

The honor includes a copper plaque and cash prize worth Rs 200,000.

Grade 12 exam to commence at 8 am

The Office of the Controller of Examinations, National Examinations Board, has made some changes to the schedule of Grade 12 board exams taking place from coming May 30 to June 8.

As per a notice issued by the Board Sunday, the exam will be conducted from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

Distribution of Melamchi water resumes

Distribution of water drawn from the Melamchi river has resumed in the Kathmandu Valley from Sunday.

Minister for Water Supply Umakant Chaudhary inaugurated the re-distribution by turning on a valve of the distribution mains at the Kathamandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) Baneshwor branch office today.
