KATHMANDU: Sixteen candidates have filed nominations for the post of Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the local level election that is going to be held on May 13.

Likewise, 17 candidates filed nominations for the post of Deputy Mayor of the metropolis.

Similarly, 13 ward chairpersons and seven ward members have also registered their candidacies, said Electoral Officer Prem Kumar Shrestha.

The office of the Electoral Office is set up in City Hall at Exhibition Road, in Kathmandu.

Nine independents have registered their candidacies for mayor. There are seven candidates from different political parties registering nomination. Twelve men and four women have filed candidacy for Mayor.

It is learnt candidates of major political parties have planned to register nominations on Monday.

The Election Commission has made arrangements for nomination registration till 5 pm on Monday.
