CPN-UML holding CC meeting even today

To dwell on criteria for electing candidates



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML holding a central committee (CC) meeting today as well.

The meeting will be held at Karki Banquet in Babarmahal.

The CC meeting will be focused on the upcoming elections. Party Chairman KP Oli had on Wednesday submitted a political dossier on contemporary issues.

The leaders in the meeting presented their views on the chairman’s report.

Meanwhile, the agenda items of the meeting include reporting by chairpersons from all seven provinces, election manifesto, the criteria for electing candidates for local level elections.

On Wednesday, UML Chairman Oli urged party leaders to refrain from being affected by psychological fear of electoral alliance among the ruling partners.

Oli’s views came at a time when Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Nepal have been emphasizing on electoral alliance in the local polls slated for May 13.

He also defended the dissolution of the parliament by the government led by him last year.

Oli, who is also a former Prime Minister, said the House of Representatives was dissolved to save the then ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

He said that the parliament was dissolved after noticing a conspiracy to capture the party.

UML chair Oli also specified that the parliament was dissolved after Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal tried to capture the then NCP.

He further added that there was no need for leftist unity.

The meeting will conclude today, according to UML leader Bishnu Rijal.
