Local government supporting disadvantaged families



RANJHA: The disadvantaged locals eking out their livelihood through daily wage are elated with Banke’s Khajura rural municipality constructing safe housing.

“We never ever expected to get a house. Now we are happy to live in a well-constructed house. Despite working during the day, we are elated to have our own house built by the rural municipality to live in”, Prem Chaudhary, a local said.

As many as 16 families like Prem’s family are residing in the houses constructed by local government. As informed, each family gets a house with two rooms, a kitchen and a balcony which has become the source of happiness for disadvantaged people.

Khajura rural municipality has constructed a collective housing for disadvantaged and under-represented communities at Khajura-3 B Boring village as part of Terai Prosperity Program. Some 21 houses have been constructed in a bigha. Sixteen households have started residing in the houses.

Khajura Chairperson Kismat Kumar Kakshyapati said those homeless have been settled in the community housing based on the applications from the disadvantaged people of the locality. According to him, 21 houses have been constructed at the cost of Rs 1.76 million.

“We have arranged residential facilities to those homeless and disadvantaged”, Chair Kakshyapati said, adding, “The local government is becoming a helping hand for the security and livelihood of disadvantaged families”, Chief Administrative Officer of Khajura rural municipality, Bam Bahadur KC shared. —
