Karnali CM Shahi for issuing Federal Education Act to manage education sector

KATHMANDU: Karnali Province Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has said Federal Education Act to manage the education sector needed to be issued at the earliest.

He said so during a virtual interaction on “Improving the Quality of Public Education: Key Issues and Solutions (teaching-learning in context of COVID-19 pandemic) held Monday. The virtual interaction was also attended by Minister of Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel.

CM Shahi suggested various measures such as streamlining technical education, giving full authority of school up to secondary level education to local governments, managing the required budget for residential schools in high mountainous areas, need for school mapping, teacher recruitment, among other issues of the education sector.

He also recommended establishing and running at least one school that provided quality education on par with Budhanilkantha School in each province.
