KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two Chinese nationals allegedly involved in human trafficking in Nepal.
According to Kathmandu Police sources, 30-year-old Chen Yang and 33-year-old Ruan Chaohong, the Chinese nationals living in Thamel, Kathmandu, are nabbed on charges of being involved in human trafficking.
They lured 3 Nepali citizens assuring them of online sales marketing in Laos with free visas and free tickets. The arrested Chinese nationals promised the earning of around 1,000 to 1,500 US dollars per month.
The accused not only got the victims work illegally in Thailand but also extorted Rs 390,000 from each of them, and tortured the victims for about two month.
Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal police arrested one person involved in the criminal activities whereas the next one was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
They have been sent to Jagannath Dewal Sundhara Jail Office for pre-trial detention by order of the Kathmandu District Court.
