NC leader Singh asks Prachanda to support Deuba to become PM

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakashman Singh met with Maoist Cneter Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and urged him to support NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba to become the Prime Minister for the first two-and-a-half years.

Singh reached Prachanda’s residence at Khumaltar on Friday morning to dicuss the government formation process.

Even though there has been an agreement to form the government among the coalition partners, no agreement has been reached regarding the leadership.

Singh proposed Prachanda to lead the government after Deuba on the basis of power sharing.

However, Prachanda rejected Singh’s proposal, sources said.

Prachanda, who has been insisting that he should lead the government in the first two years, has indicated that he would be compelled to look for an alternative if he did not the prime minister.

Sources have said that Prachanda is in touch with CPN-UML leaders.
