Minister of Forests and Environment Yadav vows to resolve problems caused by national park



CHITWAN: Minister for Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav has said that the ministry would take initiatives for resolving problems faced by the Madi folks due to the national park.

He said this on Saturday after inspecting the halted works on Hulaki Road, the underground electrification and construction of bridges and other structures. Minister Yadav asserted that the halted works would be moved ahead.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal, who accompanied the Minister in course of the inspection, said that during the inspection Minister Yadav instructed the bodies concerned to immediately start works.

Ministry Secretary Dr Pem Narayan Kandel and Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Director-General Dr Ram Chandra Kandel among other officials were present on the occasion.

The Forests and Environment Minister stated that there will not be any problem for carrying out additional works in Madi where the electricity cables are being extended.

He also instructed the bodies concerned to move ahead the necessary process in case new locations have to be used for cable extension and present all the problems in a package before him for their resolution.

A team comprising political party representatives of the district and the chiefs of the local bodies, under the leadership of CPN Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba some days back and apprised him of the problems caused to the locals by the Chitwan National Park.

The PM had assured during the meeting with the delegation that the problems would be addressed soon.
