JANAKPUR: CPN Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that efforts are on for forging unity among the parties with left background in the five-party alliance.

Talking to journalists at Janakpur Airport on Saturday, he said discussions are on with all groups with communist background in the ruling alliance and a positive outcome is expected soon.

The Maoist Centre chair reached Janakpur today en route to Sarlahi in course of attending the party’s program.

“Dr Baburam Bhattarai’s group has already split from the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and it only remains to be declared officially. We are holding discussions with both factions of JSP. The faction led by Upendra Yadav is already a part of the ruling coalition and the party to be formed by Bhattarai will also join coalition and I am confident that this party will remain within the ruling five-party alliance,” he said.

Stating that a coordination committee could be formed for forging together an electoral front or party unity among the parties with left background in the ruling coalition, the former Prime Minister said that discussions are on to that end but a final decision has not been reached yet.

He claimed that the Citizenship Bill has been passed in the parliament due to their efforts which has made it possible for the Nepali citizens without citizenship to get one.

Prachanda said that with the passage of the bill, the citizenship problem has also been resolved.
