Two cases of human trafficking and sexual abuse registered against Pandey

KATHMANDU: A case has been registered against rape accused Manoj Pandey on two separate charges.

A case has been registered against Pandey on charges of human trafficking and sexual misconduct, said SSP Sudip Giri, Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police.

Eight years ago, a young woman who participated in Miss Global International had posted a video on social media accusing Pandey of repeatedly raping her. After the incident became public, another teenager also lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Pandey had tried to rape her.

SSP Giri said that the police has registered a case against Pandey for human trafficking. He also informed that the accused Pandey was taken to Kathmandu District Court for an extension of the latter’s custody time. The court has granted five days-remand in the case.
