Balen widens lead with 46,476 votes in KMC

KATHMANDU: Independent mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah has maintained the lead against the candidate of the alliance.

According to the vote count updates made public as of Monday afternoon, Shah has got  46,476 votes. His contender for Nepali Congress (NC) Sirjana Singh garnered 27,799  votes.

Similarly, Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML is trailing behind with 26,861 votes.

For the post of deputy mayor, UML’s Sunita Dangol is leading the  CPN (Unified Socialist)’s candidate Rameshwor Shrestha with a large number of votes. Dangol has got 44,705 votes followed by Shrestha with 15,282.

The local elections were held on May 13.
