Wangchen wins Glenlivet Golf Tournament



KATHMANDU: Wangchen Dhondup won the title of The Glenlivet Golf Tournament at Gokarna Golf Club in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Playing with one handicap accumulated 41 points for the win which got him Trophy, 25 years old The Glenlivet Whisky, other gift hampers.

Col Bikash Shah finished runner-up after scoring 40 points in the tournament and received trophy and the 18 years old Glenlivet whisky and other gift hampers.

Wanchen got 40 got points however due to one player – one major prize rule, he was not eligible for gross prize, his elder brother Tashi Tshiring won the best gross award with 36 points on the count back and got 21 years old Glenlivet whisky and gift hampers.

Gita Gurung was ladies winner in the tournament on the count back after being tied with Tara Karki Chitrakar with 31 points on the count back, Gita scored 17 on the back nine compared to 16 of Tara who got runner-up trophy.

Tendi Sherpa was winner among senior golfers with 39 points. Lt. Col. Dinesh Baniya bagged closest to the pin.

Sam Doublard got longest drive after driving 356 yards. And Tashi Tshiring also won most birdies award after making six birdies.

The tournament sponsored by Pernod Ricard was participated by 102 golfers which was played under stableford format with 3/4 handciap.

Country head of Pernod Ricard, Ravinder Saini, Gokarna Golf Club Captain Joseph Nathan and AIG of Nepal Police Hari Bahadur Pal gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
