CPN-US dissatisfied over distribution of seats at local levels

KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has expressed dissatisfaction over the distribution of seats at the local level within the five-party alliance.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday on the occasion of the founding day of the Communist Party of Nepal, he said that the district level reports did not make him feel enthusiastic.

“The distribution of seats in the metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities was encouraging and it gave good messaging. But after listening to the reports from different districts, there is not much optimism,” he said.

He said though agreement was struck within the coalition that his party would stake claim in all the the local levels won by the UML in 2017 polls, the agreement was not being implemented as agreed.

He also accused the UML of trying to defeat its party by fielding a rebel candidate during the nomination process.

Stating that the UML was outsted from the central government and provincial governments and was defeated in the National Assembly election, he advised the UML not to embrace the arrogance of being the popular force.
