Govt to use private helicopters in local level election



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to use helicopters owned by private companies for the purpose of local level election slated for May 13.

The government took the decision that the helicopters owned by private sectors could be used if needed.

The private helicopters would be used for transporting ballot papers and ballot boxes in the remote areas and for security arrangements in the poll centers.

A meeting between the government officials and representatives of various airline companies was held at the Home Ministry to this regard on Friday.

Home Ministry Spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokhrel said if helicopters of private companies were needed for smooth and effective security arrangement in local level election, the government would use these.

Meanwhile, MI 17 helicopter belonging to Shree Airlines will be kept standby for election purpose, the meeting decided.
