HURPES protests in Kathmandu, urges Russia to stop war



KATHMANDU: The Human Rights and Peace Society (HUPRES) Nepal has staged a demonstration in front of the Russian Embassy in Nepal on Wednesday, urging Russia to immediately stop the war and promote peace.

According to Sarita Poudel, a HUPRES official, the demonstration, which lasted from 1 pm to 1.30 pm was meant to urge Russia not to be the cause of war.

The activists called for an end to Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, immediate withdrawal of troops, cessation of hostilities and promotion of peace.

Following the demonstration, HUPRES handed over a letter written to Russian President Vladimir Putin to an official at the Russian Embassy in Nepal.

The protesters included many people including HUPRES Founder President Krishna Pahadi, President Govind Khanal, Advisors Homkant Chaulagai and Uttam Pudasaini, Founding Member Krishna Kandel and General Secretary Ram Krishna Baral.
