Acting Chief Justice Karki calls  Judicial Council meeting on Wednesday



KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki has convened a meeting of the Judicial Council on Wednesday.

According to Supreme Court sources, the Council is preparing to recommend the name of Chairpersons of the Special Court and the Revenue Tribunal.

Similarly, the meeting will also discuss on the issue of assigning judges various formal responsibilities.

Earlier justice Prem Raj Karki was the Chairman of the Special court.

Four judges of the Special Court were transferred to other places on July 16, the day after releasing Nepali Congress leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhedar on Rs 1 million bail.

A meeting of the Judicial Council held the day after the order was passed had transferred special chairperson Karki and members (judges) Balendra Rupakheti, Shanti Singh Thapa and Chandra Bahadur Saru.

There are only two judges in the special court after the transfer of four judges including the chairperson. There is no chairman.
