PM Deuba congratulates new Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has congratulated the newly elected President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, PM Deuba wished the new Sri Lankan President best on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the Nepali citizens.

Sri Lanka’s parliament on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted six-time prime minister Wickremesinghe as president to replace Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who fled the crisis-wracked country and resigned last week.

After becoming the Prime Minister for six terms, he appointed his school classmate Dinesh Gunawardena as the Prime Minister immediately after swearing in as president.
