PM Deuba inaugurates NPU ninth general convention



CHITWAN: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the incumbent government is committed to protect press freedom and the freedom of expression.

Inaugurating the ninth national general convention of Nepal Press Union (NPU) at Hetauda on Friday, Prime Minister Deuba shared that the government is determined to ensure human rights by protection press freedom and freedom of expression.

He opined that the policies and programs of the current fiscal year would head the people towards economic prosperity.

PM Deuba further said that the democracy would be further strengthened only if media persons would adopt the habit of disseminating fact and trustworthy news among the people being responsible towards the country and the people.

He said, “The role of Nepal Press Union is indispensable to promote country’s democracy and nationalism.”

The government has now registered a new bill related to citizenship in the House of Representatives in order to provide citizenship to the people in a smooth manner, added PM Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba expressed the view that adequate budget has been allocated in the current fiscal year keeping the power production in centre with an objective of exporting it to foreign countries.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba unveiled a souvenir published by the Union.
