KATHMANDU: After President Bidya Devi Bhandari did not certify the Citizenship Bill, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has called legal experts to Baluwatar for necessary consultation.

According to Prime Minister Deuba’s press coordinator Govinda Pariyar,  the Prime Minister has called legal experts to make further strategies to tackle the complications developed by the President’s move.

“20/25 legal experts have been called for the meeting at 4 pm,” he informed, “The Prime Minister is consulting the experts before taking any further steps on the issue.”

Earlier, President Bhandari turned the citizenship amendment bill passed by the parliament twice ineffective by not validating it within the stipulated two week-time.

The meeting of the ruling coalition held earlier concluded that the President’s move was unconstitutional and an insult to the Constitution.

Protests have started against the President’s move.
