Those selling, consuming alcohol have to carry stones in Doti



DOTI: Local bodies of Doti district have taken their own decisions to curtail the sale and consumption of alcohol.

Ward no 7 of KI Singh rural municipality has decided that those selling and consuming alcohol would have to carry stones. Ward Chairperson Dil Bahadur Balayer said a decision was taken which requires that those people consuming alcohol have to carry stones up to ward office for 15 days and those selling it for one month.

The decision was taken after holding meeting with businessmen running the alcohol business in the ward and the locals.

According to the ward office, the vehicle operating in the ward carrying alcohol would be kept on hold for a month.

Similarly, Adarsha rural municipality has decided to completely close the sale and consumption of alcohol from July 17. Chairperson Ganesh Khadka shared that the decision was taken to slap a fine of Rs 40,000 to those involved in smuggling alcohol and Rs 30,000 fine to those selling it.

Likewise, the rural municipality has decided to determine Rs 2,500 fine from those consuming alcohol for the first time and Rs 5,000 fine for the second time.

Sayal rural municipality Chair Dharma Raj Joshi said the rural municipality has also completely stopped the sale and consumption of alcohol in its area. It is said other local levels in the district are also holding discussion regarding the action against sale and consumption of alcohol.
