Prachanda and Dr. Baburam discuss forming Socialist Center

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has proposed the formation of a Socialist Center with former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.

Prachanda proposed the idea during a meeting between the two leaders in Lalitpur on Thursday.

Dr. Bhattarai has intensified his meetings with Prachanda and other Communist leaders after being expelled from the Janata Samajwadi Party last week.

Earlier, in a meeting held last Monday, Dr. Bhattarai had categorically stated that he would not return to the Maoist Center.

Prachanda, on Thursday, proposed to proceed forward through the Socialist Center.

Meanwhile, Prachanda’s proposal to form a Socialist Center will be discussed in the party as well, Maoist Haribol Gajurel said.

Likewise, Dr. Bhattarai’s secretariat has also stated that the idea of the Socialist Center will be discussed.

Prachanda has reiterated the need for forming the Socialist Center before the parliamentary elections.
