Cholera confirmed in two more persons in Kathmandu Valley
Additional two persons have been confirmed to have contracted cholera in Kathmandu Valley.
Information officer of the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH) Navaraj Gautam confirmed that two of the three admitted on suspicion of cholera were found to have been suffering from the disease.
Of the two contracting Cholera, one is a shopkeeper residing in Sanepa and another patient is a farmer from Sindhupalchowk.
Earlier, two sisters residing in Bagbazaar were diagnosed with cholera in Kathmandu Valley.
Airline Operators announce closure of regular flights from Wednesday
The Airline Operators Association, Nepal (AOAN), has announced to stop regular flights from Wednesday.
Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday, AOAN made a five-point demand and announced that rescue and regular flights would be suspended from Wednesday unless their demands were met.
The association has objected to the Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) decisions like asking the airline operators to arrange for two captains in the aircraft, not allowing the aircraft and helicopters to park in the places they have been using so far, and labeled the decisions as impractical.
Lawmakers welcome government’s decision not to proceed with SPP
Lawmakers have welcomed the government’s decision not to proceed with the State Partnership Program (SPP) proposed by the United States of America.
Putting their view at Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) Bhim Rawal and Hari Raj Adhikari welcomed and thanked the government for this decision while Rawal demanded that Prime Minister additionally clarify the parliament about the matter.
Former journo Ravi Lamichhane announces ‘Rastriya Swotantra Party’
Ravi Lamichhane, who entered politics from journalism, has announced the formation of a new party on Tuesday.
He made the announcement while addressing a program organized at the Rastriya Sabha Griha, Bhrikutimandap this afternoon.
Lamichhane has also announced his party’s name as Rastriya Swotantra Party.
“I am ready to give a new mandate to the country by forming a team as the common people need, with capable people,” he said.
Nepal concedes seven-wicket defeat to Hong Kong in ACC Women’s T20
Nepal has conceded a seven wickets defeat to Hong Kong in a final match under the group phase under the 2022 ACC Women’s T20 Championship underway in Malaysia.
The match was played at the Kinrara Oval Ground in Malaysia on Tuesday.
Chasing the 110-run target posted by Nepal, Hong Kong achieved it in 15.5 overs at the loss of six wickets.
NC general-secretaries demand EC to make arrangement of voting rights to non-resident Nepalis
General Secretaries of the Nepali Congress (NC) Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have demanded the bodies concerned to make arrangement of voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad.
Thapa and Sharma met Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya and drew attention of the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday to take the decision in this regard as the Supreme Court has already given a verdict about the voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad.
Saying the decision has already been taken in the NC Central Working Committee to make arrangement of voting rights to the Nepali citizens living abroad, they urged the EC to move ahead with cooperation of different political parties and government for formulation of necessary laws and acts for the same, said General Secretary Sharma.
Lawmaker Bhattarai calls on govt to save investors
CPN (UML) lawmaker Bishal Bhattarai has drawn the attention of the government to save investors by carrying out reforms in the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
Seeking time from the Speaker in the Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), the UML chief whip demanded that the government make reforms in the SEBON as “5.2 million Demat accounts registered with it have been at risk as there is no sign of correction in the stock market”.
“A leader termed the stock market as gambling. Thereafter, an agreement reached between the Finance Minister and investors has not been implemented.
An investor, Tilak Koirala is on a fast-unto-death demanding reforms in the stock market. But the government has failed to pay its attention to it.”
International Day of Yoga 2022 celebrated
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that practicing Yoga gives positive energy to body and mind and that it should be made a part of one’s daily life.
Likewise, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki attended the event as Guest of Honor and encouraged everyone to do yoga regularly.
ANFA gets Nembang as its new chairperson
Pankaj Bikram Nembang has been elected Chairperson of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
The election held under 21st general assembly of the ANFA to elect the new working committee on Monday has finalized only 19-member working committee.
Nembang has been elected chairperson for a four-year term by defeating outgoing chairperson Karma Tshering Sherpa with six votes.
NEPSE increases by double digits Tuesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), which has been declining in recent times, rose by double digits on Tuesday.
The stock market index NEPSE increased by 37.49 points today and reached 1,922.30 points.
Shares of all groups have risen and the market went green.
