Former journo Ravi Lamichhane announces ‘Rastriya Swotantra Party’



KATHMANDU: Ravi Lamichhane, who entered politics from journalism, has announced the formation of a new party on Tuesday.

He made the announcement while addressing a program organized at the Rastriya Sabha Griha, Bhrikutimandap this afternoon.

Lamichhane has also announced his party’s name as Rastriya Swotantra Party.

“I am ready to give a new mandate to the country by forming a team as the common people need, with capable people,” he said.

Lamichhane said that he had decided not to join any existing mainstream party despite talking to all of them as he wanted to welcome all the capable individuals committed to making substantive change for the country.

“There are good people in all parties, however, they are marginalized, I want this party to be a forum for all the young aspirants with more than 50 percent youths in the party leadership,” he said.
