Chinese envoy Yanqi stresses BRI cooperation for deepening Nepal-China ties



KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi has said that Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation between China and Nepal has become a road of hope that bolsters resilience and boosts confidence.

Addressing an online media briefing on Thursday, the Chinese ambassador said the cooperation between the two countries in various fields enjoy long history, solid foundation, outstanding advantages and broad prospects.

“The projects under BRI serve to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and improve people’s livelihood and well-being. When selecting and implementing specific projects, both governments and enterprises are required to follow the principles of openness, transparency and friendly consultation with each other,” she added.

Ambassador Yanqi hoped that several issues induced by COVID-19 pandemic such as Nepali students unable to go back to China to continue their study, resumption of trade through border points and continuation of direct flights to China, among others, would make early progress.
