Ruling alliance finalizes candidates in Dharan Sub Metropolis



SUNSARI: The five-party alliance participating in the government has finalized candidacies for the local level elections in Dharan.

Umesh Thapa, the general secretary of the Nepali Congress Province 1, said that the distribution of candidates in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City has been agreed upon through consensus.

In Dharan, the NC has been given 13 ward chairpersons including the mayor, CPN (Maoist Center) has been given four ward chairpersons including the deputy mayor, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been given two ward chairpersons and the CPN (Unified Socialist) has been given all the members including ward chairperson of ward no 4.

“The NC has been given 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18 ward chairpersons including the mayor,” said Aindra Bikram Begha, Sunsari deputy in charge of the Maoist Center.

He said that the Maoist Center has been given to all the members including the deputy mayor and ward chairpersons of wards number 3, 15, 17, and 20.

JSP has been given to all the members including 10 and 19 ward chairpersons of Dharan. The coalition held a press meeting this morning and claimed victory in all wards including the mayor and deputy mayor in Dharan.

The local level election is being held on May 13.
