66% population gets vaccine against COVID-19 in Karnali

KARNALI: Karnali Province government has administered both doses of vaccine against COVID- 19 to 66 percent eligible population above 18 years.

Making public the recent achievements of the Karnali Province government in a press meet in Surkhet on Wednesday, Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi said that 54 percent of the total population of the Province received first and second doses of vaccine against coronavirus while 140,188 have administered booster dose.

Chief Minister Shahi shared that preparations are being made to reduce the possible risk of coronavirus, saying coronavirus infection is on the rise in the neighboring country, India.

He said the priority was given to the construction of health infrastructures and the management of human resources.
Arrangement of free treatment to the injured of conflict period was made and Rs 150 million was provided to local levels to provide special allowance to martyrs’ families and persons with disability added Chief Minister Shahi.

The Chief Minister shared that construction of the Province stadium, international standard volleyball covered hall, 81 playgrounds in all 10 districts of the Province, and 400 classrooms at all 79 local levels for physical infrastructure development of community schools are underway.

Similarly, 1,239 hectares of land got irrigation facility and potato, apple, kiwi and walnut production has been started on 1205 hectares of land in the current fiscal year, reads the press release issued by the Office of the Chief Minister.
A total of 170 kilometers of road was built, 30 kilometers of road was upgraded and 11.5 km of the road was blacktopped in the last six months.
