Indian national nabbed from TIA for smuggling 1.26 kg gold

KATHMANDU: An Indian national has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport with more than a kilogram of gold.

Shubham Mehra, an Indian national who arrived in Kathmandu from Dubai on a Nepal Airlines flight on Sunday, was arrested from the gate of the airport along with 1.26kg gold, police said.

According to the police, he packed the gold in two plastic bags and hid it in the anus.

The estimated value of the recovered gold is Rs. 1,849,400.

Police have produced Mehra at the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office.
