Voting taking place enthusiastically in peaceful environment: Observers

KATHMANDU: The voting under the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly Member today is taking place in an enthusiastic, systematic and peaceful manner the observers said.

Former Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel, who is on an election observation on behalf the General Election Observation Committee (GEOC), said the voting is taking place in a well-organized and peaceful manner.

Another former Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav, who is on an election observation in Saptar district, said the voters have lined up and been enthusiastically casting their votes in a systematic way.

Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha shared that the voters have been exercising their Right to Vote, queuing up at the polling centres since the early morning. “The voting is taking place in a peaceful manner. The voters are excited. At several places voters could be seen queuing up since early morning waiting for their turn to cast ballot,” he said.

At many voting centres voters turned up only from 8am due to cold and their numbers increased as the day progressed.

Meanwhile, former Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi cast his ballot at the Sano Gaucharan Park polling booth at Old Baneshwor at 9.45 this morning.

Talking to RSS after casting his vote, Regmi urged all the electorate to take part in the voting which decides the future of the nation for the coming five years and beyond.
